Information for September 2020 (letter sent home today 17-07-20)

17 July, 2020

Dear Parent / Guardian,

Information for September 2020

The Welsh Minister for Education announced on 9 July that all learners would return to School for the Autumn term. I will write to you again during the coming weeks in order to share detailed information with you as parents and pupils about the arrangements for the ‘new normal’ for September. I will also write to Secondary aged pupils’ parents next week in order to confirm the arrangements for pupils receiving GCSE, AS and A Level results this August.

The first fortnight: Ysgol Bro Pedr, in line with other schools in Ceredigion, have decided to follow the Welsh Government’s guidance which notes, at the beginning of the Autumn Term, that the first fortnight can be used to plan and re-organise. During the first fortnight of the term, therefore, the School will operate a phased return, increasing the capacity daily. School years will attend School on the following days in September: green = School, pink = no School.

In line with Welsh Government guidance, we will:

  • Group learners together when possible
  • Avoid contact between groups when possible
  • Arrange classrooms with forward facing desks
  • Ensure that staff maintain distance from learners and other staff as much as possible
  • Continue with our current hygiene protocol

If your child usually travels to school on a school bus, the usual travel arrangements will be available for your child. The Child Care Hub will not be available in September. Breakfast Clubs and after school clubs will not be operational in September either, but we hope that these can be re-introduced during the course of the first half-term.

The parents of pupils eligible for Free School Meals will receive payments (current system) during the first fortnight of September.

Remember that you are welcome to e-mail gweinyddu@bropedr.ceredigion.sch.uk before September as well if you want to ask any questions.

Thank you very much for all your help and support during these last few months. We appreciate this greatly. I hope that you and your family have an opportunity to have a break over the holidays.

Yours Faithfully,

Jane Wyn.
