The Eco-Committee has been very busy over the past year. Members carried out an Environmental Review of the school premises to find out how eco-friendly the school is and how it can improve. Some members of the Eco-Committee visited the Ceredigion County Council office in Penmorfa, Aberaeron for a training day to learn about different ways the committee can be better at working with staff and other students. This was very beneficial and gave us confidence in our roles on the committee.
Many Fairtrade events took place last year. The committee members helped to organise a Fair trade fun day for year 6 feeder schools, learning about the importance of fair trade and how it’s making a difference for producers in less economically developed countries. Pupils from years 12 and 13 organised a fair trade shop. The eco-committee worked with the School Council to help organise the fun day for year 5 to 8. The day had a fair trade theme and pupils had the opportunity to buy fairtrade bananas!
