Our vision is to set solid foundations by building close relationships with parents and offering rich experiences to all pupils. In this phase, education is about children experiencing the joy of discovery, solving problems and being creative in all aspects of their work. Our vision is to develop pupils’ self-confidence and ensure that they mature socially and emotionally.
Our aim is to ensure high standards in both literacy and numeracy, through a balanced, broad and extensive curriculum. With encouragement and praise we hope that every child will reach their full potential. Children learn better when they are excited and engaged. Our aim is to achieve this in a happy and supportive environment where children feel valued and safe.
Here at Ysgol Bro Pedr we educate year 5-8 pupils together on one campus, the first school in Wales to provide this arrangement. Our vision is to provide a school where pupils, parents, teachers, governors and the local community are able to work together to ensure that all of our pupils fulfil their potential in a happy, caring environment. Our priority is to develop pupils to be independent learners who take responsibility for their learning with a particular emphasis on raising standards in literacy and numeracy.
In this phase we are very eager to build on the pupils’ prior inclusive education by providing a comprehensive bridging programme in partnership with our feeder schools, in order to ensure a smooth transition from Key Stage 2 to 3. We strive to provide a wide range of stimulating academic experiences along with a variety of challenging extra curricular activities. Through careful tracking of pupils we can ensure continuity in education and progress in attainment.
During this phase, students will follow a comprehensive academic programme which will enable them to reach their full potential. The academic programme allows for differentiation and variety to suit individual needs.
Our aim at Ysgol Bro Pedr is to equip each individual with the skills and abilities needed to lead a full and purposeful life. We will encourage and reinforce values such as tolerance, respect and self-discipline.
Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities and to be active members within the various clubs in order to explore and develop their interests. Our aim is to encourage our students to become well-rounded citizens. We can provide guidance and support at appropriate stages so that they can succeed in whatever direction that they may choose.
This is one of the most exciting periods in the students’ time at school and we hope that they will reflect on this stage as a happy and beneficial period. We pride ourselves on having an inclusive Sixth Form where pupils have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular activities. Sixth formers are expected to inspire and set an excellent example for the school’s younger pupils.
The school’s A Level results are consistently high (87% A*-C Summer 2012) and this reflects the excellent standards of teaching and learning and, of course, the great co-operation between students, parents and staff. Students receive help and guidance during the completion of their UCAS applications and it’s wonderful to see, on a regular basis, many of our pupils studying at some of the country’s best universities. We are proud of students’ achievements in every field; as a member of Ysgol Bro Pedr’s Sixth Form students have the opportunity to accumulate a wide range of valuable experiences which form a solid foundation for life beyond the school gates.
